The Spanish science industry has achieved notable successes in recent years in scientific instrumentation technologies such as magnets, cryogenics and vacuum, or radiofrequency. These technologies are applicable to the medical sector in different areas such as detection systems for medical imaging, the generation of radiopharmaceuticals, the pharmaceutical sector or accelerators for the clinical treatment of patients. Likewise, the science industry sector is a pioneer in the use of computing tools that also allow a more efficient treatment of biomedical data.
The objective of the workshop is to share the needs of the medical community, the capabilities of the Spanish science industry and the projects underway in the large national scientific infrastructures in the areas indicated above. In this way, it is hoped to promote technological and scientific transfer and favour the appearance of new opportunities for Spanish industry.
The event will also put to test cross-fertilisation strategies between the Big Science ESFRI domain and the health domain and will serve to analyse the feasibility and industrial interest of potential and future ILO involvement in Spain in this area, where the conclusions can be extrapolated to other countries.
