ENRIITC & CERIC ERIC @BSBF2022 “Research Infrastructures’ Visibility and Potential towards Industry”

This meeting was co-organised by ENRIITC and CERIC ERIC and was held on 4 October 2022 as a satellite meeting to the Big Science Business Forum 2022 (4-7 October 2022, Granada ES), and brought together 60 participants.

The overall purpose of the meeting was to bring together the industry liaison officers and contact officers that make up the ENRIITC network for training and workshop sessions on strengthening the collaboration of the two professions and increasing the visibility and potential of RIs towards industry.

The meeting was split into three sessions:

  • Session 1: Training for ICOs and ILOs: “How to better communicate RIs’ value to industry and how to better relate to it”
  • Session 2: The 2nd ENRIITC Networking Meeting: “Towards a sustainable platform to support RI-industry engagement in the new ERA”
  • Session 3a: ICO Training Session: “Analytical services opportunities and experience”
  • Session 3b: ICO Training Session: “Technology /knowledge transfer opportunities and experience”

The Big Science Business Forum 2022 is revving up its engines!

The Big Science Business Forum 2022 is revving up its engines! On 4-7 October 2022, the eleven most prominent Big Science research facilities in the areas of astrophysics, space, synchrotrons and high-energy accelerators and fusion will be present in Granada for the second edition of the Big Science Business Forum to present to industry their procurement plans for the period 2022-2026 worth more than 37 billion euros.

BSBF2022 is organised by CDTI, E.P.E, the Spanish innovation agency depending on the Ministry of Science and Innovation, with the support of eleven full member Big Science facilities: the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Southern Observatory (ESO), the European Spallation Source (ESS), the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), the European X-Ray Free Electron Laser (European XFEL), the Facility for Antriproton and Ion Reseach in Europe (FAIR), Fusion for Energy (F4E) representing the ITER project, the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) and the Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO).

More than 1000 delegates from 500 companies and organisations across Europe are estimated to take part in BSBF2022. The congress is structured in parallel sessions which will cover ten technological areas (electronics, instruments, manufacturing techniques, control systems, information and communication technologies, cryogenics and vacuum, etc.) as well as several cross-cutting topics such as IFMIF-DONES or research infrastructures in Horizon Europe.

3rd Call for Affiliated Big Science Organisations

BSBF2022 welcomes more expressions of interest from Big Science Organisations in Europe to become BSBF2022 Affiliated Big Science Organisations!

In order to strengthen the concept of Big Science as a market place, the organisers hereby open a third and final call for expressions of interest to become an Affiliated Big Science Organisation.

Eligible institutions are European or large national Big Science organisations that procure European-wide or internationally, and with tenders published in English language. Those interested institutions can download the text and conditions of the third Call for ABSOs here.

The envisaged group of Affiliated Big Science Organisations are facilities that have an interest in communication with industry regarding collaboration, upcoming business opportunities and procurements that are open for European industry in the period 2022-2026.

Selected Affiliated Big Science Organisations will participate in two specially designed parallel sessions for Affiliated Big Science Organisation on 5 and 6 October 2022.
